WHALEBACK LIGHTHOUSE

Whaleback Lighthouse, Kittery Point

The Whaleback Lighthouse, built of granite and unpainted, was erected in 1863 on a bit of land where another station stood 41 years before. The tower’s construction is similar in style to the Eddystone Light in England. The lighthouse is not open to the public. Therefore, the best view of the light is from Fort Foster in Kittery Point.
